··Fandom specifics
······Animamundi: Dark Alchemist
······Boku no Hero Academia | My Hero Academia

I hope you'll use this letter in the spirit it is intended: I don't want to be pushy or demanding, I just hope to give you some idea of the sorts of things I like and hopefully spark some inspiration. If it doesn't work for you, remember that optional details are optional. The prompts are ideas, not demands! Please feel free to take what works for you, discard the rest, and write something that you have fun with. The best fic is one that the author enjoyed writing!
I hope you have a good exchange, and again, thanks for writing for me!
SHIPPING AND RELATIONSHIPS
Probably my biggest thing here is that if I request a ship, I don't want to see any other ships involving those characters (either instead of or in addition to each other). I tend to OTP pretty hard, and I'm not interested in seeing unrequested ships involving requested characters. In other words, if I request A/B, I'd rather not receive any A/C, A→C, or A/B/C, etc. (If you want to include background ships involving non-requested characters, feel free to ask via the mods! I'm much more likely to be amenable to that.)
That said, my ships do not have to be straightforward romance. For example, I absolutely LOVE one-sided relationships--unrequited pining is my jam. If you wonder, "Would unrequited A→B be okay?" stop wondering, the answer is yes. I also really like relationships that muddy the waters and toe the line between romantic and platonic. If you agonize over whether it "counts" as A/B or whether it's really more A&B, that is excellent, I eat that stuff up with a spoon.
Lastly, I'm not much interested in sexual content. I have zero problems with canon sexual content being referenced or discussed, but I usually skip over smut, and even when it's not explicit, I typically hold to a less-is-more policy. Fade to black? No worries, that's fine! Stops at kissing? Great! Just some hand-holding? Yessss excellent. Nothing but gazing meaningfully at each other from across the room? Hold me, I'm going weak at the knees.
GENERAL LIKES
As far as character relationships are concerned, I love intense relationships and all related topics and tropes. Show me just how dedicated to and invested in each other these people are--be the relationship romantic or platonic, healthy or otherwise--and I will be there with bells on. I particularly like:
··Loyalty above and beyond the call of duty
··Us against the world
··I would know you anywhere
··You are my most important person
··I would do terrible things for you
··I'll face any scandal for you
··I'm so in love with you I might be slightly crazy
More generally, I also like:
··Angst (I like tragic/downer endings just as much as happy ones!)
··Pining (mutual or unrequited, both are good!), especially when it's intense but unspoken
··Understated/low-key signs of affection
··Non-sexual physicality (hugging, holding hands, bumping foreheads, leaning on each other, etc.)
··Sudden realization of feelings (one's own or someone else's)
··Reunions/coming home (to someone)
··Self-sacrifice (for someone else or for a greater cause)
··Between the scenes/missing scenes
··Outsider POV
··A somber, dark, or bittersweet tone
··Wordplay
A NOTE ON AUS
I generally prefer fics to be more or less canon-compliant (be it set pre-, during, or post-canon). However, I do very much like the following types of AUs and fusionfics:
··canon divergence/for want of a nail
··time loops and Peggy Sue (time travel back to an earlier point in life)
··Loveless AUs
··daemon/His Dark Materials AUs
··hanahaki
··soulmates (including--but certainly not limited to--soulmarks, red string of fate, etc.)
However, I do prefer these to remain--aside from the obvious AU aspect--within the context of the canon universe. For example, if canon is about a high school baseball team, I'm totally on board with characters suddenly having virgin kitty ears, or daemons, or soulmarks... but I prefer it if they're still high school students who play baseball.
As a side note: For any and all of these AUs, please feel free to play it straight, add a new twist, or subvert it however you'd like. I love it all!
DNWs
I would rather not see any of the following:
··AUs/crossovers/fusions, including mundane, genderswap, ageswap, etc., EXCEPT those mentioned above
··Explicit sexual content
··Unrequested ships involving requested characters, including infidelity, threesomes/moresomes, and open or poly relationships
··Anything involving pregnancy, childbirth, or young children
··Non-canonical nicknames/pet names/terms of endearment
·· First-person POV (epistolary is OK)
··Crackfic
OPT-INS
I wholeheartedly welcome the following:
··Character death
··Bad/tragic/downer endings
··Horror
··Violence/gore (I love me some eye trauma!)
··References to/discussion of canon sexual content and canon prior relationships
··A requested character not technically appearing in the fic (they can be out of the room/missing/dead/whatever, as long as they're still important to the story in some way)
··Second-person POV
··Epistolary fic (broadly defined--letters, texting, newspaper articles, social media, etc.)
FANDOMS
Prompts are just possible jumping-off points. If you've got another idea, absolutely go with it!
I've written different amounts for different fandoms and relationships, but please do not think that if I've written more, it must mean I want it more. If I've listed it here, it's because I really want to see it!
Note: All requests are for fanfic.
Animamundi
Georik Zaberisk/Francis Dashwood
Animamundi was the first visual novel I ever played, and it left a huge impression on me. I love the over-the-top gothic atmosphere, the wholesale screwing with Christianity, and the great variety of bad and bittersweet endings. But of all the dark, twisted, melodramatic angst it has to offer, I love it the most in Georik and Dashwood's relationship. Dashwood is probably my favorite character of the lot--I like how his brash, irreverent persona hides an actually good, vulnerable soul with a backstory that consists almost entirely of sadness. I like how he feels trapped in the life he lives, and that he's willing to risk himself for Georik's sake. I live for the way he calls Georik "master" just because. I kind of love how Georik starts out having absolutely zero patience for Dashwood's behavior, but gradually comes to appreciate and understand him. And yes, I do love that they have no happy ending, just different flavors of tragedy.
Some prompts:
··Dashwood makes a late-night delivery and is suggestive and flirty, Georik going nope not gonna tap thatbut I kind of want to
··all the Dashwood pining, ALL OF IT
··Mephisto, meet Dashwood, FIGHT (over Georik)
··what is Dashwood getting up to in the non-Dashwood routes?
··Georik does NOT want Dashwood to meet Lillith
··give them a happier ending (though maybe not completely happy, yeah?)
Go as dark, gory, or macabre as you'd like. I'd rather not receive outright smut, but do feel free to reference/discuss sexual content. Also feel free to include other characters if you'd like (I'm particularly fond of Ruth and Lillith). I'm okay with all routes, including bad ends and non-Dashwood routes.
Boku no Hero Academia | My Hero Academia
Midoriya Izuku/Tokoyami Fumikage
Oh, man, I love the possibilities of this ship so much. They approach it in different ways, but the two of the are both incredibly determined to be great heroes. Tokoyami's noble (if sometimes melodramatic) darkness against Izuku's "let me shine a beacon of hope" light makes for a great combo. That said, they've got a lot in common, too--genuinely caring, lots of potential, but have to wrestle with very powerful, dangerous quirks--and that provides a lot of room for mutual respect and understanding.
Some prompts:
··slow burn over their three years at UA
··Izuku thinks Dark Shadow is FASCINATING
··working together on a case as pro heroes (underground hero Tsukuyomi!)
··Dark Shadow likes to visit Izuku's balcony at night in the dorms
··Tokoyami texts from Kyushu sometimes when he feels kind of lonely
I've read the manga beyond where the anime has gotten to, but I'm still not completely caught up, so I'd appreciate if you avoided spoilers for Undercover Hawks and beyond. Feel free to include other characters (I'm also particularly fond of All Might, Todoroki and Aizawa). Please don't forget about Dark Shadow!
Hanakisou
Hanashiro/Kuroto
Hanashiro and Kuroto are one of my favorite tragic relationships in all fiction. Together or apart, their lives are... kind of miserable and terrifying and traumatizing and distressing, and it's amazing. I love how their conflict essentially hinges on the fact that they both care so much--they just disagree about what's more important and what's worth sacrificing. I love how Hanashiro will weep over the unfairness of a world that would sentence Kuroto to death, but spill blood at the drop of a hat; I love how Kuroto essentially lives his life resigned to his fate because, somehow, he can look at a world that doomed him to being born the anathema and still think it is worth saving. I love it when they manage to some shred of light to cling to, and I love it when they find nothing but sacrifice and tragedy. In all versions and permutations, I love them.
Some prompts:
··pre-canon spending time together, "let's just pretend this is normal and it isn't going to blow up in our faces someday, yep, no problem here"
··why is Kurotaka cool with Kuroto hanging out with the Savior? how many desks did Shirofukurou flip upon discovering where Hanashiro has been running off to?
··Kuroto never loses his memories!divergence
··TIME LOOP
··Kuroto can't possibly stay sane when he's stuck outside the garden for all eternity... can he? (SPOILER: NOPE)
··"we got our happy ending, now what"
··Hanashiro can't kill Kuroto if he just... vanishes
··they aren't supposed to remember past their past lives, but they do
I have both played the game and read the manga, so feel free to use either one. For the game, I'm happy with any route, including bad ends. Or feel free to diverge from canon into new endings, if that's your bag! All other characters also welcome.
Koori no Mamono no Monogatari | The Ice-Cold Demon's Tale
Ishuca/Blood
Wild/Rapunzel
I love these four so, so much. All of them. I love Ishuca's inherent goodness, his strength of character, his ability to see and believe the best in anyone, and his occasional ditziness. I love how he's something of a Pollyanna and sees the best in absolutely everyone, but despite his occasional cluelessness isn't completely naive, perhaps because he's experienced quite a bit of pain himself. I love Blood's determination to be the kind of person Ishuca believes he can be, his endearing lack of knowledge about human life, and how he is both embarrassed by the depth of his feelings for Ishuca and yet absolutely unwavering and unyielding and unapologetic about it. I really like how he starts trying to be good because that's what Ishuca wants, but he gradually learns to genuinely care. I love how much they love each other, how they stick with each other through thick and thin, how protective they are of each other and how much they're willing to sacrifice for each other. Blood saying, "I'll live with you and I'll die with you," I love it, shoot me through the heart why don't you.
I love Wild's craftiness and cowardice, his book smarts and his rock-bottom emotional IQ, and how he's often scathing and snarky because it's easier than showing genuine emotion. I live for the fact that he's desperate to do right by Rapunzel while simultaneously being absolutely certain that he's utterly incapable of it. I love Rapunzel's wiliness, his soft appearance that belies a core of pure steel, and his occasionally scathing politeness. He seems docile, but give him enough reason and he can and absolutely will fight you on his own terms, and I super dig that. I love how desperately in love they are, how they're perfectly willing to lie and steal and cheat for each other, their communication fails and their deceptions of each other and themselves, and how they'll do anything--anything--to stay together.
Some prompts:
··Wild upon realizing that he actually cares OH NO
··Kaerichi would have hated Blood now, but Blood now prefers this life with Ishuca thankyouverymuch
··What did Kaerichi think of Wild/Rapunzel, anyway?
··post-canon travel adventures and/or Temple shenanigans
··why did canon only give us "and this is how Rapunzel became a demon," give it to me in all the panicky angsty detail
··Ishuca and Rapunzel being fluffy smiley friends in the front, Blood and Wild being snide prickly friends in the back
··Ishuca: "Blood can I braid your hair one more time, just one more time plz"
I have read the entire manga, so go wild! Feel free to include any other characters you'd like (I'm particularly fond of Sellghi and Legal).
Lamento -BEYOND THE VOID-
Konoe/Rai
Konoe/Asato
I remain extremely fond of Lamento--its fantasy worldbuilding, its intense fantasy plot, and its cast of characters. I love Konoe's progression from a scared, desperate country boy fleeing for his life to a brave, determined cat who faces down enormous threats and basically helps save the world. Asato is probably my favorite character of the lot; he's a supremely awkward but genuinely good-hearted guy, with a naïveté that's simultaneously kind of charming and kind of sad, and I love how fond and protective he is of Konoe. For Konoe/Asato, I like how they're both kind of lost in the world but find their footing together, and I love Asato's puppy-dog loyalty to Konoe's fond exasperation. As for Rai, he's no-nonsense and serious and kind of seriously damaged, and I like how his icy personality doesn't stop him from being honest and principled, or from having a core of pure fire. For Konoe/Rai, I like how Rai's brusqueness can be a sign of fondness and how Konoe can hold his own in the relationship.
More broadly speaking, I love how all of them are lonely cats who have been given a terrible lot in life and are just doing their best to get by when they happen to fall in together and find something bigger to fight for. I have a particular fondness for Sanga+Touga fighting and training, and I adore little mentions about everyone's more catlike qualities and behaviors!
Some prompts:
··Konoe returns to see (what's left of) Karou
··Konoe honing his abilities as a Sanga, with some help from his Touga
··angst about I AM SO DANGEROUS WHAT IF I HURT KONOE (Konoe: "give me some credit here")
··Asato's flowers are actually hanahaki flowers
··people who don't know them think Rai acting gruff and aloof means he doesn't really care about Konoe, DANGEROUS MISTAKE TO MAKE
··on a post-canon adventure, returning to the Shaman to receive his insight
While I ship both Konoe/Asato and Konoe/Rai, I like them separately--I'd rather not see a love triangle or Konoe/Asato/Rai. I have both played the game and read the manga, so feel free to use either one. Feel free to include other characters as well (I'm particularly fond of Kaltz, Shui, and the Shaman).
Na mo Naki Tori no Tobu Yoake | Innocent Bird
Shirasagi/Karasu
Koumori/Jesus
Come for the pretty angel and demon wings, stay for the angst and heresy. What can I say, this manga appeals to my little heathen heart. "God is not actually God, Heaven is corrupt, and Jesus is a cockatoo," yes please. I love how different characters present different angles on the concepts of religion and faith: Shirasagi's struggle to earn God's love, Karasu's increasingly existential doubt about the worth and goodness of God, Koumori's suffering and love being one and the same. I love how Shirasagi and Karasu find something holy in each other even when the world gives them ever more cause to doubt, and I love how Karasu, despite his love being the source of so much pain, finds something worth fighting for in the love Shirasagi and Karasu share, and that in the end, Koumori's love is not for nothing.
Some prompts:
··Shirasagi and Karasu building a simple, happy life together, it all worked out
··going to church and feeling that things are finally right with the world
··they meet Koumori post-canon
··or they don't, but Koumori watches them from afar and is grateful, they got their happy ending, he has done something good
··Koumori in his previous existence as you-know-who, realizing what his sacrifice on the Scales hath wrought
··Koumori suffering alone for centuries, it's enough to drive a man to madness
··Koumori having one-sided conversations with Jesus
Silver Diamond
Sawa Rakan/Senrou Chigusa
Silver Diamond is awesome. The art, the worldbuilding, the wordplay! But mostly the characters. So many awesome characters, but I love Rakan and Chigusa to bits and pieces. Rakan is so down-to-earth in a lot of ways (breakfast is the most important meal of the day!), but he's headstrong and occasionally reckless in a way that doesn't come out until it really, really does. I love his bravery--when he leaps in, he leaps in feet-first and with no hesitation. But he also cares so, so much. And I adore Chigusa to an unspeakable degree, from his original inability to human to his naïveté and cluelessness to the way he starts to care about Rakan and then, by extension, everything else. He alternately cracks me up and breaks my heart. And, of course, their relationship. The ends they'll go to for each other, the way they trust each other and fight for each other--they've basically agreed to spend the rest of their lives together, come on.
Some prompts:
··Chigusa learning HOW TO HUMAN and also HOW TO TECHNOLOGY
··Post-canon, Chigusa and Rakan go back to visit their friends
··Rakan's high school friends: "He's your cousin? Okay, uh-huh, yeah, sure, we'll go with that"
··"I held his heart in my hand" is not only literal
··there's no need for love confessions when you're TELEPATHICALLY CONNECTED FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIVES
··they deserve a bit of quiet domesticity after all they've been through, and it might be nothing but making breakfast and hanging laundry but it is sweet and lovely and beautiful
··Chigusa's thousand years of suffering was worth it for this
I've read the whole series and the gaiden, so go crazy. Feel free to include whatever other characters you'd like (I love Narushige (and Kou!) and Touji, too!).
Tennis no Oujisama | The Prince of Tennis
Shishido Ryou/Ootori Choutarou
I love the Silver Pair so much, you guys. They are a pair made in tennis heaven. Shishido's stubbornness and brashness, Choutarou's I love Shishido's prickliness and stubbornness and brashness and his dedication and determination. I love Choutarou's gentleness hides a spine of steel. And mostly I love them together--Choutarou's loyalty and Shishido having a soft spot for him that's so big it can be seen from space, yes please.
Some prompts:
··ALL THE TENNIS
··ALL THE PINING
··playing singles will never feel quite right again.
··angst about the future, SHISHIDO'S GOING TO HIGH SCHOOL, THIS IS THE END
··how did they even start training together? And whose idea was the whole doubles thing, anyway?
··it's only when they finally arrive at Life After Tennis that they realize just how important they are to each other
··hanahaki on the tennis court, SURPRISE
I haven't kept up with Shin Tenipuri, but I'm not particularly fussed about spoilers. I can do the original series in manga, anime or musical form. Feel free to include whatever other characters you'd like, including those on other teams; on Hyoutei, I'm also fond of Atobe and Hiyoshi, and in general, I like Seigaku-Hyoutei interactions.
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's
Bruno/Fudou Yuusei
I'm a sucker for characters who are instantly great friends, so I was charmed by Bruno and Yuusei's relationship from the very beginning. I love that Yuusei and the gang basically take Bruno in and accept him as one of their own, and that Bruno slides into Team 5D's so seamlessly. I love that even after the Antimony reveal, Yuusei refuses to believe that their friendship was a lie; I love that his faith was rewarded in Bruno's final moments. And that tragic ending hurts soooo good. On that note, I love the tragedy of their relationship, so I'm not particularly interested in fix-it fic where Bruno survives (unless you can turn it angsty or tragic in another way!).
Some prompts:
··Yuusei mourns in his own way
··traveling back in time to save each other, but it never works; or, traveling back in time to make things right, and canon is the successful timeline
··that thing where you know your soulmate will die
··that simple, little moment you shared together before it all went wrong is so precious in retrospect
Feel free to include other characters as you'd like (I'm particularly fond of Jack and Carly), but please keep Crow to small doses. I don't mind him appearing along with the rest of Team 5D's, but please don't make him the focus or main POV character of the fic.
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
Yuuki Juudai/Johan Andersen
Juudai is quite possibly my favorite shounen protagonist of all time. I love his optimistic, genki, hot-blooded gung-ho attitude at the beginning of the series; I love his descent into darkness; I love the character growth and development he exhibits and how, by the end of the series, he's matured and become jaded and lost some of his blind idealism, but is ultimately still a good person who still believes in goodness. I also adore Johan, for a lot of the same reasons that I love Juudai. He's positive, bright, brave, determined and true. And I love their relationship most of all. They believe in each other, they understand each other, they go above and beyond for each other--they're kindred spirits, like they were meant to find each other.
Some prompts:
··their first reunion post-canon, accompanied by an emotional wave of oh no I'm so in love
··drifting apart before drifting back together
··are we not going to have a conversation about how Yubel basically accused them of being in love
··maintaining a long-distance relationship (is easier when you have utter confidence in your feelings and each other)
··is there anything they would not do for each other? The next crisis proves: no, no there is not
··duels are a completely valid method of communication and also of expressing love
··Johan understands why Juudai needs to roam the world, but that doesn't mean he likes it
··if we could just go back in time and avoid all the alternate dimension/Haou/Yubel stuff, that would be great (spoiler: it doesn't quite work according to plan)
Feel free to include whatever other characters you'd like (especially Winged Kuriboh and the Gem Beasts!). If push comes to shove, I would rather see Yubel acknowledged than ignored. I watched the anime in the original Japanese, and so I'd prefer to see fic about Juudai and Johan, not Jaden and Jesse.
